After researching which speaker system I could get both on a budget and without cluttering up the living room with wires, I found this. It's an instant improvement over the built in speakers on my TV and the system works seamlessly with my Sony TV, turning on and off together. The only slight issue is that when it sits in front of the TV it was so obviously designed to work with, the TV's IR receiver is blocked so you have to more consciously angle the TV remote to get it to work.

Problem when after switching on does not work - have to fiddle around with hdmi cable ( which is new) then picture and sound eventually appear

The sound bar is easy to set up (although couldn't get the optical connection to work - HDMI was fine). Integrated well with the Sony TV so no need for extra switching on/off etc. Easy to switch between sound modes and simply to connect Bluetooth phone to play music through the system. Great sound quality
